Low water pressure - Montana Owners Club

I have an 04 2955RL. When hooked to garden hose, pressure is fine when the facet is first turned on. However, after a moment, the pressure drops off to almost nothing. Any suggestions on what to look for?

We had build up in the little screen in the tap, cleaned that out and all was well.

We have the same problem. I've cleaned the faucet screens repeatedly and to no avail. Our Monty is headed to the dealership next week for some little warranty things, and at the top of my list is that water pressure problem. I've read on this site about the kitchen water pressure problem, and I have taken the kitchen facet apart, looking for a water restrictor, but I didn't find one. That facet or something connected to it has a problem anyway (water ocassionally streams down the metal hose under the sink), so I'm hoping to get a new faucet and have the pressure problem fixed.

Might want to check to see if the hose to the faucet is twisted and as a result partially blocked. We have a late 2006 3400RL that had a problem of the faucet coming loose repeatedly. In the process of trying to get that fixed, the hose got twisted to the point of almost no water pressure getting through. I don't know if your particular model has a similar setup but it might be worth checking.

I had an interesting thing happen this week when hooked up to city water. Wife went to take a shower and complained there was no water pressure. As usual, I just let it slide and she made it through the shower. Later, while at the kitchen sink, there was absolutely no water coming out of the faucet when turned on. I went out and checked the supply and everything was fine outside, but still no water in the kitchen sink.

Well, I needed to use the "lavatory," and when I pushed down on the pedal there was plenty of water flowing into the black tank. I was surprised and went back to the kitchen faucet. Water was now able to flow out the kitchen faucet - GO FIGURE!!!!

I'm baffled and am thinking there was a "vapor lock." I really don't know, but it is strange enough to mention.

I read on this form about a restricter in the head of the spray head so I took off the spray head pulled the seal out and underneath was a restricter. I put a screw in the hole then pulled it out and then drilled it out and reinstalled everything

I had to take our 2955RL in for low water pressure when using the pump. The city hookup was fine. The dealer dropped part of the belly pan and found a kinked water line.

Just a quick question. Are you using a water pressure regulator? (the RV type) I've had a couple of these cause similar symptoms. I now use a household type regulator, haven't had any more problems. Kerry

A sediment filter before the trailer inlet has kept all the screens clean.

There is a second restrictor in the line for the removable faucet. disconnect the line under the counter and you will find a second restrictor in that line, removed same plus the one in the faucet head, now have great pressure. Took the @#$% faucet apart 3 times before I figured out that there was a second one in the hose line.

I think we are talking about 2 different things. I, too, have a pressure surge, at my kitchen faucet only, when it first turns on. Normal pressure after that. I have a new faucet from Home Depot. Only happens after sitting for a while. Pressure seems to build up in the system.

I have been thinking about the pressure surge. I know our city water connections has a check valve that prevents water from flowing back out. This has to be there when we turn on the pump and put more pressure in the trailer then coming from the outside. Where I am going with this is possibly the city (campground) water supply does build more pressure when less campers are using it and that pressure builds up in Monty, during non-use periods. However, when we draw the water we have high pressure for a moment and then the water pressure is equalized to the current supplied pressure level.

We have been having the same problem, for about 2 months. It seems to be getting worse, happening more often and taking longer to come back on. We too are baffled, but have a "warranty work" appointment in late Sept., so we have added this to our list. Hopefully it continues to work for that long.

Thanks ejh! I have had the kitchen faucet apart a few times looking for a restricter. This morning I disconnected the flex line at the other end and found the other restricter! Now the pressure is the same in the kitchen.

Thanks for the info on the restricter on the flex line. We removed the one in the faucet head which didn't seem to make much difference.....and didn't know there was another one in the flex line. That made a big difference! Our water pressure is really bad at this park, generally around 21 PSI and we use the water pump a lot. We had the dealer remove the restricter in the shower several months ago and that helped as well. We are here until next spring and have been dealing with the low pressure for almost a year.
