We use T-Mobile as our wireless carrier. We have a family plan that provides four phones. the coverage is not quite as good as Verizon and Cingular (Cingular and AT&T just merged), but has worked pretty well for us.
We also decided to get rid of the land line and use a cell as our "home phone". I had our old home phone number ported to one of our cell phones and I picked up a device called a Cell Socket that allows all your wired home phones to work via a single cell phone. Works great!! Just plug the
Cell Socket into a phone jack in the house and all the wired phones connect through the cell phone. We're saving $50.00 or so a month by not having a land line and can still answer a call or originate a call from any phone in the house.
When we go RVing we take the "home phone" and
Cell Socket with us and people are amazed that we are sometimes hundreds of miles from home and are answering our home phone. It's funny when they want to make a dinner date and we tell them we're in Virginia or where ever.
Here's a link if any of you are interested in the Cell Socket. They have models from many different cell phones and carriers.
