I, too, had a pane of glass fall from a cabinet door. Like you, I observed there was a dirth of applied glue. I talked to a local cabinet man to seek his advise. He directed me toward the right glue for the job. I used a hot glue gun that one might use for hobby work. Great for adhering wood and plastic (the panes are not really glass, but acrylic).
After I reaffixed the pane to that door, I checked every other glass door in the rig to determine whether it may need attention. I found that roughly 40% of them needed additional gluing. With as much glue as I applied, I think the whole rig would fall apart before another pane would fall out.
