purchased 2000 3255 ... very open to advice
We are wanting to do some boondocking so we purchased a 2000 3255 Monatna. It looks very nice.. even good looking decals. Told it was in storage. We are looking for all the good advice we can get ... We live in SW Montana with lots of snow on the ground so we will wait till Spring to set sail. Thanks in advance.

Because each of us has different ways of camping and different outlooks on modifications and ways of doing things, just ask whatever questions you have and you'll get a number of different ways to do things. boondocking my favorite places out there are:
The Shirley Basin about 90 miles north of Laramie Wy. It's 440000 acres of BLM land. With nothing on it but Pronghorns and prairie dogs.
Union Pass just north of Dubois. We camp at 9300 feet and trout fish in all the streams and lakes. There are elk, deer, moose, pronghorns, black and brown bears. I think the prettiest country in Wyoming.

Welcome to the Forum and being a new owner of a Montana! You asked for advice but the best thing to do is ask questions about what ever you want concerning the 3255. Advise is cheap but the best way to get it is to ask for it! You have found the best place on the www to find out info on our unit. Just ask and you will get more than you count on and it will be the best advise on specific subjects that you can get because it's coming from owners of the number one sold fifth wheel 10+ years in a row! Again welcome aboard and follow the Forum subjects and even go into the archives to find out answers you might be looking for. There is a wealth of knowledge here and all you have to do is ask or read.

Welcome to the MOC! You will find that there is very little that the people on this site can't help you with. I too own one of the older rigs, 2001 3280RL, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I would suggest that you take a good look at your tires even if the rig has been stored indoors and make sure they are not cracked from sitting too long. Jim just gave you some GREAT advice. If you have ST tires just get rid of them. Tires are the biggest topic on this forum in the summer months not just tires but blown tires and they are almost always blown ST tires. A lot of times take out the side of your camper they don't just blow.

Thanks ... right now we are wondering how to put a tv in the very square holes in the bedroom and living room. Trying to fit new tech into old tech. We have a hopper from dish so we can have a source but the square hole is the real (I think) problem.

That was the second year production run of Montanas. Keystone was still in a learning curve with them. Hopefully it had the expansion joint kit installed in the front lower outside wall just forward of the bedroom slide cutout. Otherwise the fiberglass or actually Filon skin has or will crack diagonally towards the front. They also had a pretty wild cable actuated slide mechanism under the main slides. You may want to have a competent service center check its adjustment. The frames were not true rolled I-Beams but were what is called a welded plate I-beam. There was also a kit out that had to be welded on above the spring shackles that reinforced the frames in that area. You may want to check to se if that was done as well. A 16 year old RV with good decals ... now that's impressive! Many of us can't get 3-4 years out of ours.

Your Montana looks really nice. I just purchased mine at the Camping World in Idaho Falls. I have too much snow at this time to take the rig to our home in Montana so it sits at the store for a while. I will give the tires a very good inspection before heading home with the rig. Thanks for the reply.
