single line or family share?

I am coming up on renewal for my Verizon service.
I currently have family share plan. I discovered yesterday that new every 2 only works on primary fone.
Question I have is: What is the advantage of family share plan over 2 individual plans. I seem to see that with FS plan I loose 200 minutes a month and $50 new every 2 plan.
Pricing looks very similar for monthly fee. Am I missing something I need to look at??
