Completed W/D space wiring mods

I got all the things wired and secured in the W/D closet;
Transfer switch for the generator and inverter,
Surge-spike protection, IQ Smart charger module,
A 120V. plug-in meter for monitoring the incoming main power, with an added duplex recepticle.
Sue wouldn't let me put anything else in there, she is afraid she would get some kind of electro-magnetic zap of some sort.
So, I think I will watch Tv and drink a Miller Lite.

Ozz,

You should open up a " High Performance RV Shop". You know, like the high performance 4X4 shops...etc
You would Make a killing. Plus Sue wouldn't have to keep such a close eye on you.
Nice Job. Keep it up.

J&D, Then it would be too much like working, if I did it for someone else.
CountryGuy,
Oh, Sue made sure there was room left! She doesn't say much about my work, but when she has input, I listen....

Ozz, you are coming to the Rally, right?

Just curious about venting the heat out of the closet. You must be using the existing ceiling vent? Are you using a "muffin" fan, like Rich and some others have done?

Dave,
No, we already had a trip to Colorado planned, I would like to be there to meet all of you, as well as tour the plant.
I hope everyone takes notes and pictures.
I haven't made a decision yet on the fan, We will have a vented dryer, the electrical panels and converter will put out heat, but, I really didn't see where it would go. There is insulation up in the ceiling, and some gaps where wiring is, but I didn't see a way for the heat to get out. I'm also not sure about the roof vents, need more information on that.

May have to wait for Rich. I believe he crawled around up in there quite a bit, exploring. He ended up putting in a muffin computer fan inside that closet vent, with an on/off switch on the inside wall somewhere.

Rich, I know you're reading this... You must be part mouse. You can get up into places most RVers don't even think about - let alone actually attempt to "explore".

No , no there is no room to crawl around up there .There is sort of a empty space up there and I wondered where it went since it would make no sense to vent it nowhere (but this is the rv industry) so I called Keystone and after awhile found a person who knew and they assured me that it vented to the roof vents as a path for heat from the convertor and the vent in the closet to vent the closet. The muffin fan does aid in airflow..that closet can get very warm.

Ozz it is a shame they don't have an RV kit where you could build your own. You seem to be the guy who needs to build something daily. If you had a kit, you could build it the way you wanted it from the ground up. Great, clean install however. Wish I had your talent with electricity.

Thank you, Native Tex,
To build something is an agonizing experience, I would obsess about it, plan, and plan, and get no sleep...
Maybe it's best I don't. I really am not a great project man, I get excited and forge ahead, often, I have to redo a step because I didn't think ahead. When I publish a picture of something I have done, you don't see all the rework and mess I make.
I remember the last RV we had, our Keystone Sprinter TT, and the outlet I installed in the bathroom. (I want a nightlight so my prostate and I, can visit it 3 or 4 times in an evening.) I was merrily running the power, and drilled through the outside of our brand new RV. After I stopped cussing, I thought, man, this is a great place for another outside outlet! lemonade out of Lemons and all that. Dumb, Dumb....
I do enjoy the work.

Night lite in the commode would be a great idea... Anyone come up with a solution for that? Maybe a battery powered round closet light? Right now, I am turning the light on manually at the light itself in the WC after I close the door, so as not to wake up Cheryl. But it is hard on my bad shoulders and 1,000,000 candlepower (seems like) at 3 AM is not real comfortable...

Hope we're not getting too far off track here...

Back to my original question for Ozz... Are you planning on some sort of heat evac system in the W/D closet, Ozz? Rich is right, it does get hot and I don't even have anything in there right now. (I will still solicit answers on my 1st question above, though...)

I had a 4 inch muffin fan(round) laying around. It fits right in that fake vent in the W/D closet , it is quiet and it moves some air. It is just jury rigged in right now as I need to put a thermostat controlled switch on it like my attic fan, so it will turn on and off at pre determined temps.

I just tapped off of the outlet on the other side of the wall, (3400RL) and put an outlet in the Throne room.
Plug in nightlight.
I am still evaluating a heat removal system, I even thought of tapping into the dryer vent with an exhaust from the space, but you know, any air exhausted from the RV has to be replaced with outside air. That has it's drawbacks, unless you pipe that air above, and in the compartment with the converter. Not many good options as far as I can see.
Rich has a good idea, but I still am not convinced that the factory guy was right. I couldn't see well up there.
I will see if I can tap into the ducting above the cieling and run a small hose to it, that would be the best.
Rich you can go to Johnstone Supply and get a line voltage 'Klixon' Bi-metal thermostat with any heat cut in-out values you wish. Some even have a little dial to adjust the kick in-out range. probably under $25.00.
Just break the power supply and it works like a champ.
