oil bypass filter

I have been thinking about putting an oil bypass filter system on my TV. Anybody done such? What do you think of the system?

I've read a little about the bypass system and think it is a good addition even though I don't have one. It will filter out much finer particles. I question the cost/benefit if you change oil and regular filter at 5k to 7.5K miles which I always do. If you have the $$ and want to run extended change intervals, I say go for it.

I use the bypass filter from:

www.oilguard.com

If you are interested in extended oil change intervals, you really need to do oil analysis to let you know when you NEED to change the oil. So far, I have (with mostly solo daily driver miles) been able to go about 17,000 miles before I need to change the oil.

BTW: This is for the Ford 7.3L diesel. The 6.0 shears the oil too much to extend your oil changes from what I hear. Check the diesel forums for Ford 6.0 for more info on this topic if you have this engine. YMMV.

Illapah, I'm personally a bit shy of doing anything that could cause Ford to void the 100k mile engine warranty. I realize this shouldn't be a problem but anything added gives them something to point at as the cause of the problem. Just my nickel's worth. I change oil at 5k miles and with 27k on the truck now it has never ever required any addition of oil between changes, even after heavy mountain towing, and has always been on the full mark when I took it in for the oil change. So I'm leaving it alone. Again, just my opinion. After 100k I'll look into doing some things to it.

Our son bought a new Freghtliner last Sept. He put one on it. Not sure but think he told me he got 15,000 + on a oil change. He told me the first of March that he 125,000 miles on it. He loves it.
