Love Bugs are here in the Bushnell/Ocala, FL

Don't know whether they are just arriving or getting ready to leave but they are here now. Not as bad as last May/June but still a nuisance.

We are just passing thru on our way south to Ft Myers Beach.

Thanks to those who suggested a good coat of wax, Pam, and dryer sheets. Removal from the front Cap and front of the truck was a snap. Almost no scubbing required.

We arrived in Lake Panasoffkee, FL last Friday and was introduced to the LoveBugs. Last year we came Nov 1st and left April 1st so have never encountered them before. They are terriable. Will be glad when they are gone. Guess there is always something.

Ran into them in southern Alabama and northern Florida last week. What a mess. The nose of the Monty was black with them. Took an hour to get them all off.

Here's what they'll do ....

jpf, do you happen to have the instructions for using the Pam and the dryer sheets?
I did a search but couldn't find an entry for this.
Thanks.

Larry,

What I do with the dryer sheets is to wet the front end of the Monty then get the dryer sheet wet. Then all I do is wash the Monty with the dryer sheet. The bugs just melt off with very little effort. Have never used Pam.

There is a product called REJEX and it is sold at most Tru-Value HDWR stores, it isn't a wax but a polymer. It is safe for paint and gelcoat. It goes on like wax but cleans like rain-x. The bugs don't stick, in most cases you can hose them off and at the worst they come right off with the long handled brush. We used it last year in Fl. on our Jayco and will be coating the new Big Sky next week. Even pine sap wipes off easily. It can be used on the wind shield just like rain-x and works just the same. If anything it lasts a bit longer on the wind shield. Had it on the whole truck since last fall, only did one recoat in 12 months. .. Dave and Betsy

We just came back from Orange city Florida on Oct6 and had them all over our Montana and p/u truck, back in Massachusetts and STILL trying to get them all off

By the way I didn,t know they were "love bugs"...thought they were made that way so as not to have to turn around to go
the other way.
