Well, I just got home with our new G614s. Goodyear really came thru for us on our almost new Marathons. We got $200 each for all 5! Needless to say, we are EXTREMELY happy. Out the door for $801.66.

We took our Marathons to be inspected yesterday. Surely hope we get as good a deal as you, Virginia. Congratulations, you did good.

Thanks, Carole. I'll cross my fingers for you.

We bought our Montana new and have only pulled it 50 miles, so the tires looked new. The tire guy told me we got the full value on them. My husband did a happy dance when I told him the news. We feel so much better, knowing we now have the proper tires.

Now, if he can just get a week's vacation so we can go to the rally in Sevierville, TN. That will be our first "trip" with it. We have been living in it ever since we bought it in October, but have yet to take it anywhere.

X2! The dealer took ours off before we took delivery and we still paid $1,000 for 5 new G614's installed.

Congratulations! I wish everyone could have a success story like yours. Now you can travel with less concern for your tires. My suggestion would be to use some of that money you saved and invest in a TPMS for even more peace of mind. Happy travelling!

Congratulations! If only I could be that lucky.

I'm still having a problem getting Goodyear tires from a Goodyear dealer near me and we live in farm/horse country! I followed your suggestion, Virginia, and called a Goodyear owned Goodyear tire store. The closest one is about 15 miles away. He told me he could order them for me but couldn't put them on my rig because it's too heavy!

After a lot of research I seem to have two choices: get the G614s from our local tire store at approximately $340 per tire and sell the Marathons privately (they won't give us any money for them) or drive an hour and 15 mins away to the Goodyear owned Commercial Vehicle Center and hope for a good trade. In the meantime the money I was going to use to buy the tires is still tied up for at least 3 more weeks and our trip to Florida is this Sunday.

Is he aware that you now have E rated tires on the rig that's too heavy for G's?

Our Marathons are being evaluated as we speak. Something I learned, don't go to a Mom and Pop Goodyear. Go to Wingfoot. They are commercial Goodyear and handle big trucks. Our local Wingfoot told me they get about three RVs a week. Wingfoot is nation wide and every state has at least one.

What I meant to say was the rig is too heavy for him to change out the tires. He said he had no way to get it jacked up safely.

And yes, Wingfoot Commercial is the place that's an hour and 15 mins from my house.

Wingfoot in Little Rock, AR, is where we took ours and got such a great deal. Good luck!

OK, Goodyear to allow 50% on old tires. Not as good as Virginia but our tires are 1-1&1/2 years old with over 5,000 miles. Question are first my wheels are 110# rated but can't tell about spare with out letting it down. Is steel spare wheel usually 110#. Also is there really a need to put a $400 dollar tire for spare. G614s never get flats do they. Last question: do you have problem getting tire places to jack properly and not bend axels? I'm the only one that has ever jacked my RV and I'm very careful.
Thanks

The spare wheel is supposed to be rated the same as the others. We got the G614 for a spare because we read somewhere on this forum that you shouldn't use different size tires on an axle. I just know we will feel better if we ever do need the spare and won't have to worry about how far it is to remedy the flat/damage.

We pulled the tires and took them to Wingfoot, then put them back on the Monty. Steve got to use his new torque wrench . . .

Steel rims are rated for 110 psi.

Ours came with 5 G614's. The Goodyear dealer in Hanes City ,Fl also said they did not have the equipment to lift the 3402.I had to remove the wheel and truck it to them.

I wouldn't count on the G614 never going flat, but I just bought 4. I don't want a $400 tire underneath the camper rotting away. Some buy 5 and rotate them. I can't see myself doing that. I figure the Marathon will get me where I need to in order to repair or replace the G614.
As for jacking the trailer, I did my own. No one will be as careful as you.

I'm with you Sambam. If you want to rotate spare into rotation then you need to buy a wheel to match. I think for now buying wheel plus shipping not happening.
Virginia I would love to remove wheels as your DH did. I don't have stands that strong and tall.
