DC Car Adapter for Laptops

You're, right, Bingo. I was thinking of the household 110v cheap adapter.

David, the 150 watt and 400 watt inverters plug into the truck's cigarette lighter. Then your normal computer cord plugs into the outlet in the inverter. Our inverter also has an on/off switch.

Thank you all for your inputs, that's why when I have a brainfart (I seem to be having more & more lately) I come right he to the forum for answers!! I found a 400W Black & decker inverter for $35.00 on E-Bay and picked that up so now hopefully that problem is now behind me. Thanks again for all who replied and gave information.

Not sure I understand how this was meant to sound and I don't mean to sound condescending, but rest assured, on our laptop, we plug the OEM adapter that came with the computer (the same plug that goes into the wall socket at home or in RV) into the cheap $20.00 cigarette adapter, and have no problems at all. The kids have watched DVD's, played games, etc. for 10 hours at a time, while the battery indicator stays at full charge.

I've even plugged ours into the inverter after using it on battery for awhile and it immediately reports it is charging the battery and continues to 100%. The laptop doesn't know it's not plugged into 110v at home. All it knows is it is getting 110v from the inverter.
