Kanab UT 89 to 14.

We have a stop in Kanab UT and will be heading northwest back to I-15 going up 89 to 14 Cedar Canyon road. Is there anyone familiar with this route? I want to be sure this route is ok for my rig. Thanks for any advice you have.

Wayne, we have a cabin north of Glendale on 89 so very familiar with Highway 14. It has a fairly steep 1 mile grade just west of 89 then it is a great road. Passing the turnoff to Cedar Breaks/Brianhead you will start down Cedar Canyon which also is about a 6% grade into Cedar City. You can do it with no problem, just make sure you're in Tow/Haul and using your Exhaust Brake. It is a beautiful drive and on top of the mountain you are overlooking Zion. Cedar Breaks is also beautiful but there are not many places to park large rigs or turn around. Best to do that unhitched. Highway 20 north of Panguitch also has a steep climb and steep descent, but 18-wheelers do it as well as Hwy 14. We have hauled our 17k SOB a few times over Hwy 14 with no problem. Just be smart, as always.

Great thanks so much. However I have decided to stay on 89 to 20 then to I-5. We love the back roads so this route keeps on them further.
