New charger BMS with existing controller

Can you install a separate battery charger in parallel with the existing Progressive Dynamics converter PD4575K 18L and turn off the charging wizard section in the converter?

Or will it buck the 14.5 v coming out of the converter?

I would like to add a better charger with monitoring capabilities for Lithium batteries but I am not sure if it can be done without replacing the converter.

Thanks

I have a PD4575K18LS8 converter (no lithium switch) and lithium batteries for over two years. They work well together. For longest lithium battery life they say stay between 20-80%. If we are going boondocking I can press the charge Wizard mode button to put it in boost mode 14.4vdc. After 4 hours it will return to normal.
I also have 400W solar panels and a victron 100/30 MPPT to top it off to 100%.
I use a Victron BMV-712 for battery monitor.

Thumbs up

Yea I think I might do the same and just add the BMS to watch it.

Thanks

I can tell you this, if you turn OFF the converter circuit breaker, the Charge Wizard light continues to blink. I think that circuit board gets its power from the battery, not the converter.
