Glacier Park

Going to Glacier NP in August, Google Maps and Microsoft's Streets and Trips states to go 90 to 12 to 141 to 200 to 83 to 2. Has anybody gone this way or would it be better to 90 to 93 to 2?

So it looks like you are trying to go to West Glacier??

Most direct is I90 to US 93 to US 2. We did that when we departed. We came in from Great Falls area on 200 over to 90 and then up 93 which was very scenic and a relatively easy tow.

FYI - We stayed in the KOA in Polson at the south end of Flathead Lake and West Glacier RV Park just outside the entrance to the park on the west side. The east side was closed in the summer of 2020 so all access was from the west side.

We came up from Salt Lake City.
We also took i90 to US 93 to US 2.
We stayed at West Glacier RV park.

We stayed at Glacier Meadow, conveniently located between both gates. Came down US2(nice drive) from Libby - Stayed at "Two Bit Outfit RV" - highly recommended.

Good luck finding a site. Maybe my problem was I wanted to leave July 2. I searched around March or even February and there were no sites available. I went back to a place we have stayed before in Kalispell - Spruce park on the river. Nice place but poor cable tv and wifi spotty.

With Apgar on reservations this year. I got a campsite, not the one I wanted. But it should work. The reservation system work as bad as getting into Yosemite."hit or miss"

Msft S&T was discontinued many years ago, you should get something that is supported and is getting updated with the latest road data. I spent many years looking for something as good as S&T and finally settled on RV Trip Wizard. The only thing wrong with it is you have to be on-line.

Don't know if the Park's status has changed (or improved) but when we tried going there in 2021, a vehicle reservation was mandatory for access/entry into the park daily until 4:30p.m. local time. Those reservations at that time had to be made nearly 6 months ahead in order to even get one. FYI.

Microsoft Streets and Trips. That brings back some memories. I’d suggest using something that has the Interstate Highways in the version.

Glacier NP Suggestion

Most people enjoy taking the Road to the Sun at Glacier National Park, we have done it three times and each time was great. Loved it. Your challenge will be to drive up the Road to the Sun without driving off the road because the sights are so beautiful however, if you go online and book a tour on one of the Red Bus you will enjoy it tremendously. They have professional drivers using old national park vehicles that have been rebuilt and modified for today’s needs. The drivers share a lot of history and pull off at all the best photo ops. I strongly suggest you use the red car for the best enjoyment of the park.
If you know when you will be at the park book your red bus as soon as possible to be sure to get a seat. Enjoy.
