Front Cap????
Does anyone know how long Montana's have had the front cap design which gives more space (in degrees of turning radius) between the cap and the rear cab of the tow vehicle. There is a discussion on a competors forum questioning the statement in the Trailer Life mag about the caps they say their brand has 88 degress vs 79 degrees. Saying Montana article is wrong. I do think Montana's have had the front cap out a 2 years or more, I may be wrong. GBY...

I have been reading that thread also. It is interesting the reactions. Here is what Montana has to say about the turning radius.

The 2010 Montana appears to have a new designed cap. I have an 08 with a cap design not quite as swept back as the 2010.

Our 2007 also has it. I know the early 2006 models did not. I believe the change came with the mid-year change to the 2006 models, the "late 2006" models, in other words. I'm not positive about the late 2006's but I think that's right. It's definitely been more than 2 years.
I found a picture I saved from a downloaded 2006 Montana brochure... but it doesn't give the turn angle.

Mine is an '06 made in April of '06 and it has the curved cap. At the time I bought it they were saying 85 degree turns were possible.

Thanks all I though it had been about 2 years or so and that Montana had the first design. I think the Owners Group there think that Trailer Life is printing wrong info. I think there is just some misunderstanding but I for sure want jump into that problem. I try very hard never to bash any type RV. I do believe if I was towing with a short bed I would have a slider ever though I never had to use mine when we had the short bed 2500HD. I'm sure that all the letters going to Trailer Life and Keystone that all questions will be answered, but the answer might not be what everyone likes. Again Thanks for the reply's. GBY....

Delaine and Lindy, I think you are correct. There is the use of the terms turning radius and truck angle. Montana states the truck angle as 78 degrees and turning radius 90 degrees. I think this is where the confusion has come into play. Some have jumped on the 78 degrees as the turning radius.

My experience with TL is that they publish lots of "wrong info."

The picture that sreagil has on his post shows a 6 foot bed, but I'll look at the movie and see if its a 8 footer.
I can do a 90 degree with my 04 2980 RL

Dodge Megacab had a shortbed dually in 2007. I was thinking Ford also has a shortbed dually but don't remember for sure.
