Factory GPS navagation system stoped talking

My sister has a new ford f350 superduty and all the bells and whistles, when we were in Montana the guidance system worked great talking it's head off in directions in the USA. when we crossed over the border into Alberta Canada the all communications stoped it would show on the screen where we were at but thats where it ended no verbal commications whatsever, was there a reason for this? My Garmin was Chatty Cathy everywhere we traveled even into Canada.
Any Ideas on what might have caused this from happining.

Do you have the Garmin Nuvi XX-750, with real USA English Slang features?
Thats probably why it stoped talking, those models seem to have a limmited vocabulary.

When my gps is talking to much I just slap the crap out of her.

I then sleep on the couch for a few weeks.

This is becoming a common complaint of vendor's Nav systems used by American car companies, that they don't use the directional voice database for both countries. It's either to save licensing money or if you have the English-speaking guidance for Canada then you need a French-speaking version, too. That uses more disk room and costs more and maybe Ford didn't want to pay for the rights from the vendor. Only the Ford Marketing Folks could tell you but I doubt they will.

Maybe if you brought it to Ford's attention, there's a fix for it. Tell them you need the feature in both countries.

I think thor's thoughts are pretty close to the reasoning.
