Living Fulltime in our Montana
House has been sold, furniture in storage, and we are now living full time in our Montana! Currently at Rice Lake in Bailieboro, Ontario, Canada. Right now we are busy figuring out how everything works and just getting used to living in the RV. We will fly to England in September to visit our son, daughter-in-law and our grandaugher for a couple of weeks and then upon our return we will commence our journey. Would like to spend some time in South Carolina then on to Florida, right now we are considering the Fort Myers area. We would like to spend three months there (Nov. Dec. and Jan) and then start heading towards British Columbia where our daughter and her family live. I have been reading this website for several months and it has has helped us so much in our adventure into full time RV'ing. We are now looking forward to hopefully meeting some of you on our travels. We will keep you posted.

Hi Les and Julie, Lorraine and I have been full timing it since last October 20th. We have had some good times and some bad but thankfully a ton of more good times than bad. Our hardest adjustment was the change of lifestyle. Going from schedules and appointments to complete freedom from such things is very difficult............NOT! We will also be in Florida this winter, maybe we will be able to hook up sometime.
To the rest of you fulltime wannabe's just hang in there, all good things take time.

Les & Julie,
Welcome to the MOC. We hope to be close behind you in selling our home and hitting the road in our Montana. 2004 is our year of transition and we are frantically trying to decide what we need in the 5er or our vacation home in WV. The rest will be sold or donated. Be sure to check out the Rally Information. We too will be following the sun come the winter of 2005. Perhaps our paths will cross somewhere down the road.

Welcome aboard and keep us posted on your location. We will do Nov/Dec near our kids in the Kansas City area (brrr) then are thinking we'd like to do Jan/Feb maybe in the Savannah, GA, area. I'll have to check the winter weather for that area first but we're thinking if we're near the coast it should be reasonable.

Steve & Vicki, Grrrrrrrrrrreat to see you back on the forum!! You will love Savannah in Jan/Feb. We have very "mild" winters in this part of GA. Cold nights but nice daytime temps. Savannah is a beautiful city with lots to do. It is definitely on our list of places to spend time after we get this move behind us. Ft. McAllister State Park is a great place to stay, but as most of GA State Parks does not have sewer hookup, but a dumping station. Also length of time for stay is limited.

Thanks, Joyce H. I haven't yet spent the time to research the average daily temperatures on wunderground so can you clue me to approximately what is meant by 'cold nights'? That seems to be a very relative term with significantly different meanings in different parts of the country.
Point in case, I recently had a young clerk in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, tell me it was too blinking hot (it was 75 with low humidity) and when it hits 80 she "aint going outside". To us former Kansans, 80 in August is often the overnight low, if it manages to get that low.

Well Steve, to us southerners "cold" nights can range from the upper 30's to low 50's. We seldom get below freezing. Nice day time temps to us range from 65 to 75. We really don't consider it hot unless it gets above 85. We have lived in this area for 13 years and have only seen snow 2 times and never on the ground for more than 24 hours. Just enough change in temps to see the changing of the seasons. We have extremely long spring and fall seasons (which are my favorites). Here it is August, and our night temps have been in the 60's with days in the 80's. Gotta love it!! We plan to spend some long periods of time in TN & GA when heading south for the winter. Will just head further south if the weather turns too cool for us. TeeHee

Steve, would you believe that this summer has been the coolest and wettest for Kansas since the 20's? We have had even on night with 50's. It is nervous making though, since with this cool a summer... all the 'salts' are predicting an ice age for winter. I just hope it continues to rain.. seeing green this late into August is a real bonus.

I'm glad to hear you're having a relatively cool summer. Our sons in the KC area tell us the same for them. Sure beats the usual August weather in that area. I sure hope if winter is colder and wetter than normal it doesn't start until January. We will spend most of November and December in the KC area. Usually they get no more than a few sprinklings of snow in that time, occasionally an inch or even two. Last Nov/Dec we got 8 inches of that stuff and that's too much for me!

Too true, sis lives in Shawnee Mission, and got lots of ice as well last year. Not my idea of entertainment. Hopefully your visit will be as mild as the rest of the summer here has been.

Congratulations fulltimers!
Isn't that everybody's goal? We got a "taste" of it recently as we had a great 6weeks or so on the road. Now we know we can do it and we're working out the details. Hope we can join you!
