Tire Pressures
Are the front and rear tire pressures the same when towing? I put my rear tires at 80 psi and the front at 70 psi.

I do about the same thing: 80 rear, 65 front. I run 80 in all four on the trailer.

I would think that the label on your door post would tell you what the recommended pressures should be. Other than that it becomes a process of experimentation to determine what the best pressures are to suit yiur individual ride preference. I usually stick with what is on the door post though.

That about what I do. I like 80 pounds in the rear tires for stability and to keep the tires as cool as possible and that is why I like 80 pounds in the trailer tires. I don't see any reason to run less pressure. In the front tires I run 65, 70 pounds.

We use what the door post specs and it is higher for the rear than the front.

On my dually, not comfortable with the door label spec of 60psi when pulling the Montana because of the pin weight, so up it to 70. On our previous SRW Ford diesels, ran 80 all around and never had a problem.

dyleleonard does not mention the vehicle or trailer he's using, but according to the door pillar, my 4x4 is supposed to use 75 pounds all around and this is what I use and based on what I've learned over the years, if you are using the recommended size of tires on your vehicle and the recommended psi, then you will satisfy the gross vehicle weight ratings all around. Even though the front of the truck is less weight per the scales I use the pillar numbers.
The trailer gets 80 psi all around, again because it's what the Monty's front sticker recommends. I am not getting any wierd wear on either the truck or trailer so it seems to work for me and might work for you. Just monitor closely and make adjustements as necessary and the diligence should help.
There are plenty of other tire wear stories and many of these are from problems so my experience might not be your experience.

Door pillar on our Chevy Dually lists 70 front 65 rear. Since per the scales the front doesn't change, but with nearly 4K of pin, I put the rears up to 70 before heading South, might not hurt to up them just a little more.

mhs4771... it shouldn't hurt, but 65 psi in the rear when you have twice as many tires as a SRW may not require 70psi. Just monitor that the center of the rear duallies are not wearing faster than the edges from the extra overinflation. Keep in mind as you drive, the psi will raise when the tires are hotter, therefore you might not need the extra psi.
One of these days I'm getting a tire depth gauge for more accuracy but in the meantime it's eyeballing for me or a coin. Like most of us, read the door pillar, then anything you do different can be considered.

Art, I understand what you're saying. I only ran the 70PSI while traveling the 1200 miles south with that extra 4000 Lbs in the bed. Once setup for the winter I dropped the pressure back to the recommended 65 PSI.

I run according to mfg. instructions.(doorpost sticker). If I run more than 2 or 3 pounds under, the onboard TPMS yells at me. I see no need to run higher than recommended pressures.

The doorpost sticker is for Maximum load. When not towing I lower the pressure in the rear tires, makes the ride so much better

Good point 8.1al. Since the OP discussed the trailer I run the max even though I am not towing at maximum according to the pillar.
When not loaded I lower the front and rear to 65psi all around or I'm bouncing all over the place. I actually contacted Michelin to inquire on the minimum and was told no lower than 65psi. I don't run lower only because they didn't recommend it, but it would probably be okay if you monitor tire wear.

When towing I run TV and Montana tires at maximum pressure as indicated on the tires. When not towing I adjust pressure on TV to door post recommendations ( 80 front, 50 rear).

I use the manufacturers load chart for my tires. I found a medium psi on the chart that fits my weights and that works towing and not towing. For the truck 60psi front and 75psi rear. Using the G614 load chart is use 95psi for all 4 tires on the 5er
