lazy light switch
My bedroom light switch has just turned lazy and before I go off in the wrong direction, I thought I'd seek Forum knowledge.
It has started having a delay in the time between flipping the switch on and the lights coming on. We are now up to about 10 seconds !
I am on the 50 amp service where I stay and have no other electrical issues in the trailer.
This is just weird. Once the lights come on, you can turn the switch on and off and it works just fine. So it seems there is a heat up issue or something to create the connection.
I will start at the fuse box this afternoon checking tightness of connection, but it occurred t me that there may be a switch failure going on etc. so please let me know if anybody has experienced this .
also , how do you take the swith apart to check it's connection? No screws etc. Does it pop loose ?
As always , thank you in advance for your comments and suggestions,
Dave

If your switch is what I call "neo style", the outer cover just pops off. There are two screws under that attached to flipper arms that swivel behind the wall board that hold the switch in place. loosen the screws enough to rotate the flipper arms inline with the switch and pull it away from the wall. As always ... make sure the power is off.

Diesel guy is spot on if it is a Decora style 110 volt light. They are similar to "remodel" boxes.
Is your bedroom light 12 volts? If so, the instructions are different. The cover does pop off (there is a slight indentation on the bottom in the middle where you can use a screwdriver to help), and there are two screws holding the switch plate to the wall. Here is where it differs: when you take the plate off the wall, you will see that the switch is held in place by two flexible plastic tabs, one on top and the other on the bottom.
These switches can be found at any Radio Shack, though not in Colonial White (the most prevalent color Keystone used).
Good luck!

I just change the switches and put new ones in. Takes about 15 min. after the first time you do it, if that long. I have about 4 of them in my parts box.

It does seem the switch must be the culprit since everything else is good order.. I'll try to find a switch to replace it with. meanwhile , i'll try to hit the switch 25 seconds before i need lights ! thanks for all the feedback.

I got them at Camping World Dick. Less than $5.00 a piece.
