Blowing Out Water with Compressor

What is the best way to blow the water out of the lines. Do you open all the faucets or keep them closed and open the low point drains and puch it out that way?

Bob, I do both but open one faucet at a time. Don't forget about the outside shower and the black tank wash! I then put about a cup or two of the RV antifreeze into each of the traps and also run the stool till there is no more water coming out and put some of the antifreeze into the bowl of the stool also!

ditto like Rondo but after blowing out the lines I put RV anit freeze in as a guarantee. It seems I always leave some moisture in the lines and the anti freeze pushes out the excess. With what I add to traps it's about 2 gals or $6.00 total.

Don't forget to turn the pressure way down when blowing out the lines.

x2 like Rondo and be sure to put the hot water heater on bypass and drain, and drain all other tanks as well.

Don't forget to blow out the line to the fresh water tank. I always put air to the city water inlet to clear that fill line to that tank. Next I do the black water tank flush line as I am convinced when I use the Weatherization procedure these two lines don't actually get the pink stuff and there seems to be a lot of fresh water in them, works for me.

Just rotate around opening and closing faucets one at a time but I always have one open when I go to the next one. Never close them all at one time, and make sure I hit them all. Here in Tx I don't really bother with anti freeze except for the drains and toilet. But when I lived in Pa. and put her away for the winter I did use anit freeze after blow out just in case some water got trapped in a nook somewhere.

I knowww I live in Fla, but what about blow the lines out good, then add the antifreeze, then blow the antifreeze out? You can save at least half of it for the next year. Plus you know every check valve, faucet and toilet valve has been taken care of. Put a bowl or pan in each sink to catch the blowout and your done. Also leave some of it drain into the black tank and down to the blade valve. This is the way I do my friends SOB out in Wyoming.

Agree...if you were sending 100psi through your lines, you might have a very bad day!

Well read this thread right after winterizing... Thanks for that tip about the fresh fill line. Went out and put the air to it and got about 1/4 cup of fluid, probably mixed water and pink stuff.

Also don't forget the washer hookups.

I also pump RV antifreeze though the system to be safe after I blow out the lines. When I blow the lines out I have an adapter that has a ball valve on it which hooks to the outside water connection. After I pull the zinc anode on the water heater and blow that down I open a couple cold water valves in the trailer then go out side and bump the air. I do not let air pressure build up very much,just enough to hear air coming out the faucets. After every thing is blown out I hook a adapter up to the pump suction and run the pump fill the lines with anti freeze.

Instead of RV antifreeze, you can use Jack Daniels. It makes de-winterizing a lot more fun (I hear).

I live in Massachusetts where it can get pretty cold outside. I guess I have to question why blow out the lines????? I pump RV antifreese throughout the lines until all the faucets and toilet have pink running out of them (I open one faucet at a time). It only takes a couple of gallons and about 15 minutes and I'm winterized. It's worked well for quite a number of years. Oh yes, I do drain the holding tanks, hot water tank and low points so thats a few minutes extra I guess.

The tricky one is if you have a washer installed. Then you have to follow the manufacturers instructions as to how to winterize it. If you do blow your lines out remember to leave your low point drains open when your done. In my rig if you open them first and leave them open when you try to blow the water out of the other lines the air just diverts to the low point drains. You know how I know that.

I blow out the freshwater lines as others have mentioned.
However I use winter windshield washer fluid in the drains, (drains only)
it is cheaper then the pink stuff and works good for me.
