Another wire loom fix
A few years ago when those plastic wire looms were breaking, someone posted the fix of placing gate hinges at the point where they break. I bought the hinges and saved them for the day ours break.
A year or so ago we finally had the first one break. While under the rig with a drill to drill the mounting holes it dawned on me I don't really need those hinges. There were already a couple of holes (can't remember if it was one or two) in the metal mounting bracket so I just drilled matching holes in the plastic loom. I then drilled an additional hole (or was it two?) for a total of three in the plastic and the metal bracket.
I then simply tied the two together with those plastic wire tires. I've checked it periodically and after more than a year it's holding very well. No wear that I can see.
So this might be a quick and easy fix for those facing the wire loom breakage problem in the future.

Thanks! That's a great idea.

Steve's fix was the exact approach that I used on our previous rig. When we traded it, the plastic ties were still in place and holding well. Sometimes, simpler may be better?

My wire ties have been in place for over a year now. I thought that was just an old phone man fix, we fix everything with wire ties and black electrical tape lol lol.....Some one ought to tell the factory to just make a cut there and use heavy plastic rings. Surely they know that plastic holder breaks over time. Usually most companies do long term studies to see what holds up and what doesn't so they can make "improvements"........

This may be as a result of a dream, but I think our new rig has the hinged metal brackets added to the plastic wire looms instead of the old plastic hinge area that was subject to breakage. I would check, but if I make a trip to the mini-storage, it would lead to a bout of "not being able to camp depression". Hopefully someone can confirm my dream?

No, but I can confirm the the "not able to camp depression". I had that happen last week when I ventured into the trailer to source some Graham Crackers to make a desert with.

I used the gate hinges on mine, but I also travelled with a container of over 250 tie wraps of differing sizes. I actually think they are better than duct tape, this coming from a guy that spent 15 years in the "Duct Tape Capital of the World". Anchorage, Alaska.....
