Battery - Riddle Me This

New this trip - Battery Guage, even when hooked up to Shore Power, shows battery 3/4 Charged. Only have on 12v deep cycle.

Most always when hooked to shore power, your battery gauge in the panel will show full ... even if you have a 3 stage charger in the converter. Check voltage at your battery hooked to shore power ... it should read north of 13.4 - 13.8+ VDC . Maybe you hooked the battery up backwards at some point and blew the reverse polarity fuses in the converter itself. They are easy enough to check and replace.

x2

Do you have a multi-meter that you can check the actual voltage? That will tell you what is going on.

Not sure if the isolation switch would have anything to do with your readings, somebody on here should know.

I think Kolb could be correct if the same led doesn't work for tank readings. However, the design to check voltage and tank levels is very basic, cheap, and one step above putting a stick in your tanks to read their level or putting your tongue on the battery to see if it shocks you. Use voltmeter directly on battery! 12.7 vdc with no charging action is 100%...less is less. Your converter should be cycling through its program as indicated by its led on panel and as detailed in its manual.

Here is a table from the Trojan Battery website showing open circuit voltage vs. charge.
