Looks like our AC is dying . .

It's worked well up until the current trip when it started loosing performance. Now it only gives a 3-4 degree drop in temp inside (at least we're in NE!). I've cleaned the inside coils and checked the outdoor ones but everything looks OK. Guess it's a slow leak or something not fixable. All I want to do is do a swap out, but going through the literature that came with our used '10, this appears to be a Coleman unit or a clone of one. The manual says RV Products, a division of Airxcel, Inc. A couple of places say Coleman. The thermostat says RVComfort.ZC. Sooo, I guess my question is, will a new Colemen Mach drop right in? What about a Domentic?

Don't know for sure, but it will all hinge on the electronic control box in the ceiling. I would think that it would be compatible, but a goggle of 'will xxxx work with dometic ac's' will probably pop up an answer. Good luck walt...hope an moc'r has faced this issue previous. John

After finding a model number and digging through things on the Internet, turns out it IS a Coleman (8335D7564). The Coleman website says to replace it with a 48204C866. Guess what - most all the units for sale online (at about $250 cheaper including shipping than from a dealer) are the 48204C966 ones. Only difference is the 966 one is a heat pump version. Got a message in to Coleman asking if I can use that one without having to rewire and re-thermostat the fiver.

Of course it's dying...it's July, that's when they are designed to die!

Found the right part number replacement from Dyer's RV. Their shipping was only $9 something as well. Placed the order and the trucking company called me up to deliver it one day later. Since Dyer's is in Phoenix and I'm in Northern Virginia, this was kind of surprising! Had to question the trucking scheduler as I didn't think 18 wheelers could go that fast. He told me it was dropped shipped from Philadelphia.

Anyway, a neighbor and I got the old one off and the new one on and in place yesterday and it's working 100%. Back to 17 - 19 degree drop inside, just in time to go to NJ next week!
