Black stuff on wall under cap...exhaust? tar?

Have some black greasy residue on wall under cap? Hesitate to use tar remover on gelcap. Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

Picking up road tar is a common thing. We've used WD40 and a cloth to remove it with no ill effects.

While at the Mid Atlantic Rally, we had our unit washed and waxed and we asked the gentleman that did it what he used for the wax combination on the rig because it shined like it was new right off the factory floor. He would not give us his formula but he did tell us not to use ANY petroleum based cleaners or item on the side walls because it does break down the wax and also will cause the graphics to peal faster! He should know what he is talking about since he's been in the business for over twenty five years. I haven't checked the ingredients in Fantastic but WD-40 will not be used on my unit because of the petroleum base.
