Axle replacement to morryde?

has anyone upgraded their axles to the IS morryde system? what do you think?

morryde says they will do the job at a special rate while we are at the rally.

We are thinking about upgrading to the 8K axle with disc brakes...we are full timers.

We had it done on both our Montana's. They do offer a special rate at the rally. It is a great upgrade. there are NO axles with the IS system.

We've had the IS system with the disk brakes now for three years and about 25,000 miles. Love that system and wouldn't have another rig that doesn't have it.

For those of you that have upgraded to the IS system and idea of the weight difference between original 6 or 7K axles & IS system?

I don't think there's all that much. You loose the springs and axles, but you gain two large tubes, shocks etc.

A couple we met at last year's Rally had it put on their older rig ('06?) right after it was over. They do a lot of kayaking and wanted the extra rough terrain capability it gives. If I remember right, it was about $6k or so. I didn't think that it would be worth it for us, but then we left the Rally on an eight week Southwest jaunt and some of the reservation and other roads had me rethinking it! We've another two month trip to northern CA (from VA) starting in late July, so we'll see.

I was told about 300 more pounds. A much stronger axle frame over the spring hangers etc.

Many people here have made the switch to IS (us included) and I don't remember anyone saying anything negative about it, other than the cost, perhaps.

Thanks John - another question.
If I am adding 300lbs, then am I taking away 300lbs of stuff I can carry? Stronger system? Have I upgraded overall trailer ratings?

The cost to upgrade to the Mor/ryde IS is approx 3K, plus/minus a little depending on anything special they might need. We had it done to our 2010 Monty 2955 and both of our SOBs. The price of 6K is closer to the IS and Disc Brake conversion.
If you really want to know the price, just give them a call, very easy folks to work with, and you get to spend the night in your rig in their shop as it's a two day job.

Re the weight question. A lot of stuff comes off. Axles, springs, all kinds of other stuff. Our 06 3400 was weighed before they installed the IS system and after it was completed much to our surprise it weighed about the same but as you can see by the photo I posted it is a much sturdier system.

We had the 8K IS and disk brakes installed and there is added weight. Before the IS our unit was heavy. We also added 17.5 in rims and Goodyear G114 tires to be on the safe side. We love the system.
