Light button on hinge side of door

The door on my 2024 3155rl was hard to close. It was even worse when it was just the screen door. Then I noticed the screen door on the latch side was getting nicked up from hitting when closing. I removed the button from the hinge side and taped up the wires. Door closes great now. I'd rather have the door close right than the lights come on when I open the door.

I spray mine with a powder lubricant couple of time a year and have had no problems with the door. Have the same setup in the pantry and spray that one as well.

We use dry graphite on our switch a couple times a year as well. The switch in our pantry doesn't seem to cause as many problems but the door pushing on it is much more substantial than the flimsy screen door. Lube both regularly.

I found dry silicone lube also works. I spray the hinges and latch, as well as the switch button.

I do the same as Bob(rohrmann) and do it at least every two months or so and if left in storage, I spray them down before heading out and keep the can of dry lube in the basement for future use on it and other hinges, slides and etc around the Monte!

I don't know why, but I always ignore it till the door doesn't close right. Then it takes a day or two before I wise up and dry lube the button.

my 3155rl front door was the same as yours Mike.
I moved the switch 1/8" out , it was hitting the hinge
in the wrong spot and binding up. After moved it, it
worked fine and no problems. I just used a round file
to make hole bigger.

We hated all the kitchen area lights coming on as well, so I unscrewed the thing and took it off. Covered the hole with a piece of plastic. I found a small motion sensitive, battery LED light and velcroed it near the inside step. Works fine although I've got to replace the batteries once a year.
