another shackle question

Has anyone tried using spray lube like the lithium grease on the factory shackles to extend their life? I was just wondering if this would do any good.

grampachet,
I doubt that spraying any kind of grease on them would keep or even slow them from failing. It is simply a matter of gravity vs weak steel. Bad roads will escalate the wear process. The OEM shackles are simply too weak. They are thin compared to the HD stuff. I'd guess they are probably a harder steel too.

Good luck.
