Question on Exterior Propane Appliance Tie In
Looking at installing an auxilary tie for propane appliances exterior to the Monty. Would like to know if anyone has installed an access for propane and what did you use? Looking at installing a hard line piping with shut off valve and quik coupler on the right front underside of the Monty in the vacinity of the right hand propane bottle. Appreciate any help on this with experiences, photos and type of installations. Thanks Ellis

I did find a 15 foot hose with the appliance male fitting on one end and the male threaded fitting on the other end that goes into the larger bottles. We will use this until we have the time to plumb a permanent quick coupler assembly to the lower front of the Monty. Appreciate the help. Thanks Ellis

I tied into ours several years ago and have had no problems with it. I do need to find a longer hose, though. I used a tee connected to the bottle. The original bottle connector connects to the tee. My additional hose goes to the third connection on the tee. Keep in mind for a grille or other propane appliance you need to connect prior to the regulator.
On the other end of the hose I wanted a tee that allowed for a grille hose connection and also a connection to an external propane bottle (100 lb in our case), for those times we're in cold weather. That connection is the old style (POL??) connection. Lefthand thread. I found one at a propane store. There are caps on both the external bottle connector and the grille hose connector when not in use. When the hose is not in use it is coiled up in the propane locker, still connected to the onboard propane bottle. I just drop it out the bottom of that locker when needed.
Good luck.

We had the system from the RV store and found it collected a lot of oil in the hose and ruined a regulator. I was told by an RV Tech that it is a common problem with a long hose in hot weather. There is oil in Propane so I could of got a bad batch of Propane or it is as the Tech told me . I had a 20ft hose.

We plan to buy 8.1al's system as soon as we can find one. I'm slowly using up an old-thread 20-pounder, then it's time to switch. We already have extension hoses that we used as singles off the old Coleman upright T. I do wonder how they will affect the pressure, so we'll just have to see!

Charlie,
I have the same connection as the one you showed.
Do you leave it connected all the time?....and when the bottle goes empty, do you disconnect and change the bottle?
I never use the switch-over, I just 'carry' the bottle from the other side and reconnect it at the bottle, leaving the connection still attached to the hose. Is that the way you do it?
