So I am unclear on how it works. You sign up and get some phone to use. Then is it used as a hotspot and you connect your router to it??
I have a pepwave wifi router. Thanks.

I've been using this setup for several weeks now with various results. It does work. HOWEVER! You must be techie enough to use AT commands to manually set the modem to use Visible and to use GoldenOrb for the settings in the router.

This is the WE826-T2/EC25-AF I bought off ebay.

If I was to do it again I would have purchased the EP06-A modem. It's more expensive but, I understand they are easier to setup and better firmware.

I found a website www.ltehacks.com that provides the instructions and links for the router (and latest version of GoldenOrb) and the AT commands for the modem. Here's the link to the post providing modem AT commands for Visible.

So. How well does it work? Here's screenshot of www.speedtest.com.

This was about 1:00pm CST 11/12/21. Visible service really varies with time of day and network traffic. I don't always get this good (a lot of times it is less than 1mbps) and sometimes (very, very late at night) I get double DL speeds 18-20mbps).

So what does all this mean? I can run Netflix at 1080p about 95% of the time (4K is a no go). Over the past few days it has been buffering. DLs are not fast. It can take up to 10 min. to DL a 25-35mb file. When DL speeds drop, Netflix seems to get the priority and my laptop (Lenovo), iPad, etc. slows to a crawl. Also, my laptop performs better than my Apple products (iPad and iPhone). Not sure why since everything is connected through the router (and I have the router TTL set to 65).

The verdict... IMHO it's worth the $25/mo I'm paying (I joined a group to get the discount). I stopped using OTR mobile. OTR stopped offering unlimited at $109/mo and started charging $110 for 300GB. I also tried ATT prepaid data (100GB for $55/mo). I had to monitor my usage. ATT did provide good, consistent DL speeds (20+ mbps). I was going to try Verizon's new data plan (150GB for $80/mo) but dropped the idea when Visible worked.

So... it's price vs performance/data caps. Some need speed and some need data. I know there are some unlimited companies still around. Each person will need to evaluate their situation. Feel free to PM me if you have any in depth questions and I'll try to help.

Also, if there are other more techie types that have solutions to the Visible performance issues, please PM me. Thanks
