Caulking

As DW and I remain hunkered down I decided to inspect all seams, joints, seals, etc., on our RV that might require re-caulking. From the ground there appeared to be only a few small spots that needed to be touched up. Since I have time to kill I decided to get the ladder out and inspect more closely, and I'm glad I did. Not only did I find a few areas that couldn't be detected from the ground, but I also discovered that on two of my slides, which have slide covers, the very center of the weather seal for the slide hadn't been caulked at the factory! I guess that I've been lucky and haven't experienced a leak but I'm going to obviously caulk these areas. Unfortunately, being in the center of the slide and under the slide cover, it can't be reached with a normal caulk gun. Went on Amazon and found a 45" extended caulk gun for $70. Unfortunately, since it's geared more for professional applications your normal 10 oz. caulk tube requires an adapter to be utilized. Of course Amazon has that too, $23. Ouch!Of course it's cheaper than repairing water damage but still. Quality Control, what's that? I also found another issue with the steel plate/cap/flashing that runs the length of the RV that is intended to tie the roof and sidewalls together. Apparently a screw has become dislodged and a 6" section on the roof under the EDPM has raised about 2"-3". Not sure what I'm going to do about that yet.

Since you have time disconnect the slide cover and use a regular caulk gun. Currently I am in the process of replacing our slide topper fabric so easy to recaulk

Thought about that but operating solo and due to the size, and more the awkwardness of it at that height, decided to go the caulking route. Just glad I found it. Thanks
