Heavy duty Velcro to attach slide-out facia?
I’m working on replacing slide out cables, trying to do so without removing the facia. But as I think about the possibility of removing the facia, and then having to reattach it, I’m wondering whether heavy duty Velcro would work to hold it in place. It would certainly make it much easier to remove and reattach as needed! Thoughts? Has anyone come up with other ideas to make the facia removal/reattaching process easier? Also, less risk of damage.

Some of us, over the years, have arrived at our destination and opened the slides to find the facia laying on the couch or the floor. Most of us then took the brads out and replaced them with screws. From my experience velcro would have no chance going down the road.

Seems to me velcro, as thick as the two pieces are, would make the union/seam of the two woods pretty ugly.

I vote screws. Then it won't come down until you want it to.

Screws. If you want you can countersink the screws, make/buy some wood plugs, stain them and pop them in the holes. I've always then lost or tore them up.

I would use very small head dark colored furniture screws. But some of the extra heavy duty Velcro is pretty tough stuff.

I would use dark colored ring shank finishing nails. I've used them on the trim on the sliding closet doors and they work great and won't come out. Barely counter sink the nail heads and they won't be seen. Screws will certainly work but are usually larger and more noticeable.

I have decoration stuff hanging on the walls with heavy duty velcro, but most are light weight, only a few ounces. They have held with no problems so far. I would think the trim would be too heavy to stay with the movement. Not only are you bouncing down the road, but the inside of the rig is flexing and moving side to side to some extent as well.

The inner slide seals actually use the fascia to help compress them when the slide is all the way out. Velcro will not make a solid enough bond between the frame of the slide and the fascia.
Use screws or nails like it has been suggested.

The fascia actually helps compress the inner seals when the slides are all the way out so the joint between the fascia and slide frame has to be solid. Velcro won't get that job done. Use nails or screws like has been previously suggested.

Thanks for feedback!
Thanks, all, for your feedback. I’m not sure I’ll venture so far as to remove the facia, but will be well-armed with information if I do.
