Any one replaced the TV on a lift?

Or rig came with the TV that raises and lowers behind the fireplace. I'm planning to replace the LCD TV that came with the rig with an LED one, but how to get the old one off the lift and a new one on looks kind of scary. Anyone with experience?

Don't think so, it's going to have to come off when the lift is up.

Can't say I looked that close at replacing ours when we had the 3455 with lift. I would think as long as the new LED is not any wider than what you have then it's doable. Could take the old one off and sketch a template of the holes in the brackets I guess, then off to shop?

It looks to me like one bracket attaches to the TV and then attaches to the lift with some bolts. It appears that if you loosened those bolts to the point where you could lift the TV and it's attached bracket off the lift frame you could then attach the frame to the new TV and reverse the process. I was just hoping someone had done it so that if appearances are deceiving I'm not in the deep you know what.

Our lift broke and we took the Tv off the lift and replaced the lift.... talk anout a job. But taking the tv off the lift was not hard. Bascially 4 bolts in the top that unbolt (that holds the corian top) and 4 bolts on the back of the Tv that Attaches the TV to the lift. weighs about 50 lbs. we had a person on each side. we replaced it with a 40 inch LED and it looked lost.. Especially because with the LEDs u loose the black border which makes the tv look bigger. Packet it back up and searched for a 42 inch. We bought the 42 inch LG . Your choices of 42 inch are not plentiful. Its the largest that will fit in that slot. You should be fine. Any question just ask.

Yes, just like u said loosen the bracket, take off tv, then reattach bracket to the new Tv.

Haven't done it, either...but loosening the 4 bolts allow the tele to lift up off the rails. With the corian top that tilts up in front...like ours...you shouldn't have to take that off. Piece of cake to swap out when time. I asked the boss if I could modify the entertainment center for a 50-55 inch and I don't even have to tell you the answer...bummer. john

Ditto what Bill & Cindy said. You must have two people, but the job is fairly easy.

I removed the TV 2-3 times by myself. Just raise the TV, loosen the two bolts (don't need to remove) that clamp the TV to the lift and lift the TV out. You can take the brackets off the Old TV and put on your new TV. Hang it on the lift and tight the two bolts.

I replaced my 40" TV with a 42" LED TV when the Samsung when out and it was less than 2 years old. On researching repair, I found that TV has a lot of problems, so I replaced it with Panasonic TC-L42E5 42-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED-LCD TV $680.00 in May 2012.

haven't replaced the TV but have removed it every winter. it very ez to remove, well at least mine is. (4) 7/16 bolts get backed out and the TV lifts off the motorized frame. I do it myself without issue.

Thanks everyone! I thought it would work like that, but it's been my experience that if there's someone to ask who's done it before I can avoid that bad feeling when I discover that I only thought I knew how it worked. That's what makes this forum so great.

Hi

The screen failed on our LED TV one month out of warranty. Fortunately Toshiba step up to the plate and repaired it anyway.

The first thing I did was take a picture of the back of the TV so I had a reference to put the wires back where they belonged.

With the lift all the way up I put 2 pieces of board I think they were 1x6 under each side of the TV so if it slipped thru my hands I wouldn’t fall down in the hole behind the fire place.

The removal was pretty straight forward I just removed the wires and the 4 fasteners from the mount while my wife and I held the TV. It was easier than I thought it would be.

We just reversed the process to put it back and the boards gave us something to set it on while we both got in position to pick it up and put the fasteners in.
