I have them on my truck. No problems yet, but they are new. Bridgestone Duravis 250s on the Monty.

I talked with my dealer Saturday, and he also hadn't heard about the problem. He called back today, and had gotten more info. There aren't any tires available now, so here's my question. Has anyone tried Michelin LTX M/S2's? Is this the ribs? He has offered these, so I want to quiz the experts on this. Thanks. JT.

Thanks for the heads up. I called Discount tire today and they said my tires were part of the recall. I got rid of my new marathons to get these tires to be safe. Glad I didn't have an issue. I am glad they are stepping up and replacing them at no charge. Other manufacturers should step up and do the same.

JT, the LTX M/S2 and the XPS Rib are two totally different animals. The XPS Rib is an all steel constructed, heavy duty tire, that is almost bullet proof. It is also very expensive. The LTX M/S2 is more along the lines of the BFG Commercial T/A.
I just got the recall notice from Michelin yesterday, via e-mail. The link below will take you to the letter the tire dealers received letting us know which tires are affected, and what the recommended replacements are. I know many of you will have tires that fall into the date ranges listed, and I urge you to have them replaced. There will be no charge to you, other than the expense of getting your tires to the dealer.

I've been offered the LTX as a replacement, so should I get those, or wait for the new batch of BFG's?

I would go with the LTX Michelin and go ahead and get the BFG's off.

Thank Lonnie,
I have appointment tomorrow at Disconount Tire. They said, Michelin LTX are the replacement, but Michelin wants the full DOT numbers and tread depth, before the approve it. I hope they can get that all taken care of while I wait.
I asked if the Michelin LTX were America Made, and he said they were. I hope they are not telling me stories.

Took the Montana over to Discount Tire, they got the tread depth and call Michelin who approved the tire replacements. The BFG's were a 50,000 mile tire ($140 each) replaced with Michelin LTX M/S2 70,000 tire ($206.00 each). No charge, and one my way in about 2 hours.
Here is the replacement tire.

I also had my Uniroyal Laredos replaced by Michelin LXT's this morning ... straight across swap for a better tire. If only Goodyear was as customer conscious.

I had a close call. I went to my dealer to get new tires Saturday. He was aware of the recall. He informed me that the warehouse was supposed to have returned all the tires in the recall. So I asked him to get me a set. Before I took the rig this morning to have the tires mounted, I decided to go look at the tires first. Guess what? You guessed it. They were on the recall list. So to make things right I will be getting a super deal on Michelin LTXs. They will be put on tomorrow. Thanks to the forum I did not make what could have been a costly mistake.

I too went into Discount Tire today to check on replacements for my recall tires. They wanted to give me Yokohama tires???? Which they are not a bad tires as I understand but I do not know much about them. The guy said they are the same price as the BFG's. So nope, told him to get on the phone with Michelin and I want their tires as replacements. He did and the guy on the other end said give him his choice in the LTX series. So I got my Michelin LTS M-2's no additional cost, what a deal. Figure if I have to go thru all the hassle getting tires changed then we deserve a step up. At least it is a company that steps up to the plate when there's a problem. Did have me worried having to drive back from Pa. to Texas after finding out about the recall.

Talked to Michelin yesterday and I'll be getting the LTX's since BFG's are in short supply.

I talked to Costco today about replacement tires and they are suggesting Michelin LT2 tires. Does anybody know anything about the LT2 tires?

I had a tire issue last week where the Pep Boys/Big 10 Tire Free PLUG on my punctured Michelin Ram front drivers tire leaked in less than a week! So I went to my local, been in business forever, hometown Tire Dealer and they put a double patch on and advised never to just plug a tire on a vehicle you ride in. I brought up the recall and the owner believes that my BFG COMM T/A 2511 Tire within the recall is probably good or it would have failed by now. That said I'm trying to get the original tire seller to assist me.
I've put 600 miles on that "bad" tire since learning of the recall.

Chas,
Call Michelin and get a case file started with them. Then the dealer will have to replace the tires.

Don, Costco is replacing my Commercial T/A's tomorrow with the Michelin LTX2 M/S. I am on my third set of those on the truck and IMHO they are a great tire.

My dealer told me that factory would only approve the Uniroyal Laredo. I could get the Michelins for $160 more. Guess it is Laredos.

Called the hotline and they said I could get the LTX as a replacement for no extra charge. She told me to have the dealer call them if there was a problem. Thanks Jim. Waiting now to hear from the dealer.
