roller shades

A friends new sob came with dark brown roller shades. They're easy to use & look good. Our Day & night shades are getting bad. I want to try the darkening roller shades from Home Depot on line. The 72x36 is only $81.00 & the smaller ones are $38.00. Has anyone seen these or have any experience with them? Thoughts & recommendations please. Thanks, Ray

Check out BudgetBlinds.com I have installed their day/night shades. I elected the foil backed for the night shade. The shades are the pleated, the strings are only vertical, no cross over. There is a "transmission?" At the top that controls the height. I found this option to be less expensive than the MCD.

I just went on homedepot.com/online & searched roller shades, then darkening shades. They are not day/night, just day or night. Dumb me, I didn't realize my friends SOB had the MCD day/night roller shades which cost a lot more. I have to go to my trailer next week, get exact measurements & the start pricing the day night roller shades. The home depot shades won't work unless I can figure out a way to hook up a light one for day & dark for night. I can't find the day/night shades on Budget blinds site.

It's not a cheap upgrade, but if you have to replace the originals, they are cheap either.

BW2, how do the pleated shades work as day/night shades? Is there a way to get prices online, or do we have to contact their reps? Thanks, Ray
