Tire pressure monitoring

On my old truck I had the Pressure Pro System and monitored all 10 wheels. I have been very well satisfied with the performance. However, I am told that I have a built-in pressure monitoring system in the new wagon. Does anyone know how it works? Can sensors be added to the system to monitor the fiver's tires? I have failed to find any info on the system as of yet.

Not sure how they work Stiles. I found out I had them on mine when we had a real hard cold snap and they had dropped to about 50psi. Got the warning, air them up to normal and the warning went away. Don't know if you can add monitors to them or not. Dealer might know something about that.

Stay with your Pressure Pro system. The Ford TPMS doesn't have a lot going for it. The owners manual will tell you a little about it, Google searches will point to discussion on the Ford web sites. Basically it illuminates the dash indicator (at least on the 2008 version) when a tire pressure drops below the TPMS' predetermined value. Identifying the low pressure tire it is an exercise left for the driver.

On Edit: The Ford TPMS has no provision to extend to additional wheels.

Great info, Carl, I already have the Pressure Pro system, so it will be easy enough to reinstall it.

Check it out but the OEM system does not indicate which tire is low. Actually Stiles we have that system on our 08 F-350 and did not even know about it till last week when a neighbor told me about it.. read the manual and sure enough we have it. We have the pressure pro system and there is a software upgrade to that system that will allow temperature to be measured.

My 2011 GMC 3500 dually has a similar setup. A light will come on when "a" tire is low (how much I dunno). Like Carl says it's up to you to determine which one. My dealer wants me to come in and re-fill all seven tires with nitrogen - at GM's expense - he claims that their gurus have determined that this will result in less pressure variation when running and less leakage over time.
We'll see . . .

Our 2009 2500HD Chevy has the OEM TPMS. The DIC will tell you which tire is low also. Any time a wheel is moved from it's original location, the TPMS must be reset to know which wheel is where. Most shops will do this for a fee; it is really simple on our truck, but might be more complicated on a dual wheel truck.

TPMS are the law. All vehicles sold in the US since 2006, I think, must have them.

I installed my Pressure Pro on my new truck. I hard-wired it to one of the upfitter switches so I wouldn't have wires hanging out of the 12v power ports. I have found a spot to mount it without it interfering.
