fold out couch

I have a 2002 2880 RL and I can't figure out how to open the fold out bed from the couch? It hits the island where the sink is. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Scott

Does it hit much? I am not familiar with your floorplan so can only comment based on what I have seen with mine. Make sure the couch is as far back against the wall as it can go. The couch sits freely on the floor and I noticed once that it was an inch or so from the wall. In my floorplan it won't hit anything but it should be against the wall nevertheless.

If that's not the case and with your unit being about 7 years old, has it ever worked? Maybe the mechanism is "broken" so that the bed goes out too far when extended. Decades ago, this happened on a sofa bed at my Mom's house. My older brother was able to work on it, but it kept happening so my parents just got rid of it.

Since so many of us have sofa beds, we'd be interested in knowing your resolution.

2007 2955rl....when sofa bed is extended, touches kitchen cabinet. if bed starts out the least bit from the street side wall it wont extend. make sure the sofa is butted up against the wall.

It is butted to the slide wall. The bed hits the counter by about 1 3/4- 2 inches, when the slide is all the way open. I am not really stressing it because I would really only have my mother in law sleep on it for a night. I was just wondering if anyone else had the problem and has figured out how to fix it. The way I see it either the factory built the island to far out or there is a way for the slide to open more. It looks to me like the slide is open all the way!

Our couch bed also is very close to the cabinets. We trade places with the table when we have company for more than a day or two.

Northeastdiesel -
I tried looking up your floorplan but couldn't find it. I know in our 3400, we switched the recliner and sofa locations (sofa to the back and chairs in the slide). Could it be that someone swapped the sofa and chair location? Just a thought.

I thought of that also, but there is a cabinet in between the two chairs that has the bypass valves in the bottom of them for winterizing the camper. I just find it kinda strange on the couch not opening all the way...

IIRC, there was an issue with this situation a while back. Buyers were urged to purchase the flip couch, not the full sized sofa sleeper. I thought I remember that the flip couch would open.

A search of the archives for flip couch MIGHT pop it out for you, if you are interested in trying.
