Brakes

I havce a 2007 3400 . I have not pulled the drums off yet. Does anybody know a part number for shoes or either the whole backing plate and shoes? I want a shop to inspect them, but I want parts in advance , so I am not waiting for days or having to come back. If they are ok I will use it at a later time I know. Also is there brakes on Both axles? Thank you in advance, I am learning alot from this forum.

There are are brakes on both axles. do you have a lot of miles on your unit? If not, I think a check will reveal no problems

I agree when I cked mine after aprox 8000 miles they still looked good. Ithink the way you set your brakes on the controler would make a differnce JMHO.

I assume you have Dexter Axles and they will be either 6000 or 7000 lb ratings. If you go to www.dexteraxle.com there is instructions plus parts lists for all your suspension components, like springs, shackles, axles, brakes, wheel bearings plus more on their web site.
This should help, if not give us a holler, there is a lot of expertise on the Forum.

all you might need is a brake adjustment.

If your going to go ahead and purchase a set ahead of time I would suggest buying the upgraded self adjusting brakes that Dexter is now putting out. I bought a set (4) at the fall rally but have not installed them yet. They come already assembled on the backing plate. This way you will never have to adjust the brakes. You will also need a new greese seal for the hubs as well.

If you are just wanting to replace the shoes, I did that on an SOB a few years ago and NAPA had the shoes.
