Fishing around theYuma area?
This is a post about where to fish around Yuma but anyone can offer a good fishing spot anywhere in the USA so that I have a good reason to go there! My ideal is a quiet lake or stream where you can have peace and paddle a canoe around and just relax! I want to stay away from big boats and a lot of partiers. Sounds like too much to ask doesn't it? Thank all of you for your replies!

Mittrey lake (spelling?). Go west past the main entrance to YPG about a block. Small sign marks the turn on the left. Many individual spots with 10 day free camping and lake access.

Bruce, there's some fishing just north of you at the Imperial Dam area. Just below Senator Wash Reservoir is a boat launch that will put you into Imperial Reservoir and Squaw Lake. Also, a little farther north is Martinez Lake, another potential spot. Everything is part of the Colorado River drainage. Bass are the primary fish you will catch with an occasional perch in certain areas. Hope that helps. Also here's a site with more info. http://yumazone.com/yuma_fishing.html

I didn't mention Martinez lake due to the request for not a lot of boats. Last Friday 62 boats put in at Fisher's landing alone.

While not in Yuma, you might PM "Captain Joe" on the forum. He can possibly hook you up to some good spots in the Ozarks.
Lots of places here for Bass, Trout, Catfish, Walleye.

Bruce,
I have found that you can go to any lake and find a secluded launch ramp to get away from the big boats and traffic. There are many lakes in MO. Some restrict to less than 25 hp or electric trolling only. Other big lakes like Table Rock, Stockton, Truman, Bull Shoals, Taneycomo, etc. all have remote ramps and campgrounds close by. One little gem we like is Petit Jean State Park near Little Rock, AR. Love it there. There are also numerous rivers, small lakes, and ponds you can access. Google search will find them all and Google Earth to check out the area. Good luck
