Spring cleaning time! The furnace is sooty!!

2017 Montana HC 331rl

Hi folks - I hope you're all coming out of hibernation well.

We had a cold winter in our neck of the woods, so the gas furnace ran a LOT. We have a lot of soot residue hanging out on the walls, the ceiling, etc. Any suggestions on the best type of cleaner to get it off? I would guess just about any kind of household cleaner would work, but some can be abrasive or even have solvents that might screw up the walls and/or woodwork.

Thoughts? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Damon

I've used the Pledge Multi Surface with good results.

I know you want to get it cleaned up but I would be more concerned why your furnace is producing soot inside your unit. I'm not an expert in this area but that doesn't sound right to me. Perhaps someone with expertise in this area can comment?
