UPDATE ON CAMPGROUND THEFT
Posted - Apr 18 2005 : 10:22:51 PM
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I posted around the 18th of April about this:
We went camping this past weekends to one of our favorite campgrounds. On Sunday morning the couple next to us found there fishing boat half sunk and both motors gone! It was there first time at the park and probably there last. We have never had any trouble in this park. The security we thought was tight but now I am wondering. Seems noone heard nothing except some guy going up and down the road talking on his cell phone(now I wonder if this was on purpose, so people didnt hear anything else) I guess we will be locking everything now and in the future. It is those few that spoil it for alot. Sure hope this is just an isolated incident though.
Well it just so happens as it turned out a cop that was camping out there got wind of it and did some checking on his own, found out who was camping at that site that was loud went to the guys house and found the motor in his garage. We were camped right across from these people and we thought that maybe they did do it. I am very happy for the people that they got their motor back!!

Wow, that doesn't happen very often. I'm glad the people got their motor back, too. Seems like some folks just don't have any boundaries nowadays.....what's yours is MINE, if I want it. Will they press charges?

Happy to hear that the motor was recovered. It's unfortunate that these days people can't keep their hands off other people's possessions. Whatever happened to honesty and personal responsibility? Glad this had a happy ending.

Yeah!! The "good guys" win one! I hope these people are prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I'm glad to hear the victims have had their property returned.

WOW! Let’s hear it for the cop going the extra mile! That is what makes all of the difference; too often people do not want to do that, figuring it does not concern them. Like was previously stated, this policeman can camp near me anytime!

How did he get entry into their garage? did he have a warrent, or did the snakes just let him in look around. I am glad that the fellow campers were able to get there moter back.

I think they went to do a follow up and that is when they found the motor! They must of been with in the law b/c the owners had it returned to them. I am sure they will never be allowed in the park again either.I applaud the officer who took the time to follow it up!!!

We have friends that had a travel trailer parked in their driveway. They kept it locked. Someone used a key and got in there and took some things. I guess a lot of keys are universal. They never found out who did this. They took an old hunting rifle that had belonged to her husband's father and a clock. Forgot what else they took.
