Added Folding Privacy Door

The 3400 did not come with a folding privacy door/curtain between the bed and the lavatory door. When our grand kids stay with us, the privacy would be nice. Apparently Keystone felt there was not enough space between the slide and the shower.

To solve this problem, we ordered an accordian privacy door cut to the length just above the garden bath tub (approx. 64" you would need to measure). I cut the end of the crown molding above the bedside closet flush with inside edge of the closet, (between the closet & the shower). I was able to install the track on the ceiling with a curve to allow the track to meet wall at the outside edge of the corner between the lavatory door jamb and the sink.

It is close, but it works well and as a side benefit, we open the accordian curtain/door (what do you call this?), partially and the door blocks the light from the sky light over the shower.

Just thought I would share.
Good camping!!!

BW2,

We are very interested in your mod - as we too noticed that the 3400 did not have the curtain. I'm still having a hard time understanding how you overcame the slide issue between the wardrobe and the tub enclosure. Do you happen to have photos?

Also, where did you order the accodian door from?

I also would like to see pics. Specifically of the rail ends to see exactly how you routed them.

I will take a few pictures and get them posted. I had to place a special order with Camping World for the door. I will get the details as well and post.

My 3400RL came with the privacy curtain. It is attached to the wall between the shower and the edge of my bedroom slide. Track runs straight across and latches on the watercloset wall. Sounds like a QC issue at Keystone, someone must have forgot to put them in some of the newer units. Guess a call to the VP is in order....

No panic BW -

The 3400RL with tub is the only large bedroom model that does not come with the curtain due to the design change in 06. There is no room for the curtain to park between the enclosure and wardrobe slide unless you opt for the neo-angle shower, which leaves about 3" additional space.

That's why we're curious to see how you remedied it.

I have a 2005 with the tub and I have the curtain in mine. I'm curious as to the difference in the bedroom between the 2005 and 2006 3400RL model.

I never figured out what changed Lou - Does yours look like the bedroom picture above in my post?

(tub enclosure uptight against the wardrobe). Even the website floorplans show a difference in the space on the 3400RL from the others.

We have the curtain on our '05 also. It parks between the dresser and lavatory. And hooks onto the armoire. So I think it was the change in the dresser that created the change. On ours there is about maybe 6 inches between the lavatory and dresser. The problem with the curtain in ours (we've never used it but I did open it once) is the hook is on the bed side of the armoire so when the curtain is attached to the armoire the person sleeping on that side of the bed would have a hard time getting out of bed. Of course it isn't attached at the bottom so you can kind of swing it out but it would give me claustrophobia if I slept on that side.
Happy trails....................

Sue - you're probably right. There is no room between the dresser and the lavatory on the new 3400, but I see they do put a curtain there on the 3500. Looks like they changed a lot of things to get that King bed in some of the models.

Be kind, first post w/ photos.

The door hangs over the tub surround and right next to the glass shower enclosure. The door was special ordered from Camping World w/ an approx. 64" drop. This allows the door to hang just above the tub. The track is curved to meet the outside corner of the wall between the door jamb of the lavatory and the sink. This allows others to gain access to the door to the lav. while closed.

As we all can see, the wall is not very vertical!

Nice job. For some reason we don't (won't) have near that amount of space between the glass enclosure and wardrobe. Do you have the tub or shower?

I also have a 05 3400RL which didn't come with the curtains, my solution to the problem was to cut a piece of 1" doweling the the length needed between the two walls (shower side) and (toilet). I then cut 1/2" from the total length, drilled and inserted adjustable chair footings on both sides. Extended the footings out until their somewhat snug then turn the doweling which will force the footing to become tight. We hang a nice curtain on the finished rod and when not in use store it in the front closet. Simple and very effective.

We are most anxious to put the curtain across as well - we have about 2 inches between slide and shower side, but want to bring curtain to between sink and end of dresser. Sue, is this the way yours is? bw2 - did you measure yours first then contact CW or did you just tell you what you wanted to do and they direct you for what they needed to know? That is the one thing missing in our 2006 3400, that we loved on the 3295 and want something -

Thanks for info from you both - couldn't have come at a better time.

bsmeaton,

Yes, mine looks exactly like your picture. My curtain is connected just like Parrothead's.

Yes, ours is between the sink and end of dresser and hooks onto the front of the armoire right by the side of the bed. I liked the idea of closing or opening whichever it is to block out the skylight. The way ours is set up (it does curve a bit) the bathroom and the sink could be used while someone was in bed. We just have a queen bed and the older type television cabinet angled. I think this is why the dresser is not wider to leave room for the curtain.
Happy trails.............................

Sue,
You and I have the same style bedroom and queen bed. Do you have the tub or neoangle shower? I have the shower and my curtain is between the shower and slide out. No curve in mine track, goes staright across to the watercloset wall. Wonder why yours and mine are different??
