New tires on order
Hi All, Got my new TPMS and made our first trip with it. Instructions say to set the high pressure alarm to 20% over and 10% under. So starting @ 80psi off we went on a short 100 mile camp out trip. High alarm set @ 96psi. Got down the interstate,(65-70mph) about 30 miles and the alarm goes off. Left rear showing 96psi. Starts raining. I turn the thing off. Drive about 15 miles and turn it back on. Now down to 94psi so it is quiet. The other 3 are about 92-94psi.
Get off the interstate and get on 2 lane, 60mph. All settle down to 92-94psi.
Had gotten 4 quotes a couple of weeks ago. Called Firestone and ordered 4 Bridgestone Duravis 250. Date codes 12/13 so 2 months old.
Going home Friday, to be installed Saturday.
Will have 4 Marathons for sale. Less than 1,000 miles on them.

You'll still see a pressure rise of around 10 psi with your new tires going down the road on a hot day ... more so on the side the sun is shining on if driving in the same general direction for a given length of time. My old Marabombs would gain a good 15 psi on a really hot day as well. My trouble was ... with the temp rise they also turned into balloon tires and got really scary looking. Sitting over night, they returned to their normal shape then it would start all over the next time down the road.

Sold our 5 yr. old Marathons after putting on Transforce HD's to a guy that wanted them for a utility trailer. They'll work fine for that - our old TT had 8 year old Marathons but was only 10k max gross. It's all about the weight.

I've only got 10,340lbs on the axles, but, they are going away. We have a friend with the same trailer in a 2011 model. They have never had a issue, but, I just do not trust them.

Your wise not to trust them. Many have had ok luck with them, but those who've had issues have had serious problems, many times without warning. Peace of mind is worth the money.

It is a blessing to have trust in your tires. Looking in the rear-view mirror without having to wonder if and when a tire will have problems makes any trip a lot less stressful. Since we have switched to "Made in U.S.A." tires, the rear-view mirror now functions as intended for rear-views, rather than tire-checking! Having experienced tire problems in the past with the "Made in China" junk, I believe you are making a well-informed, intelligent decision!

It is fine to sell them to someone for the appropriate use. Many farmers love them for their wagons/trailers. Jim
