Noise when backing

Noise when backing seems to come out of the Suspension of my new 2955 RL. It is a clanking/popping noise usally when I have to cut the wheels to get into a spot. Is this normal? It has done it since I purchased it new last year. It has the Moreyde suspension. Thanks

I would have someone watch for axle movement or better yet check it out with a dealer. I have not had mine on the road enough to know. I will this coming month though 2300 miles to Fla and back.
Cheers and tow safe.

This is just a guess, but it might be just your trailer brakes. Mine make a metallic noise when backing up intermittently applying the brakes as in easing into a camp site. It's the way the magnet tries to apply the electric brakes on your fiver in reverse. I don't have any answer to the "while turning" part.

I believe dieselguy may have hit on it. I know when we are parking rigs at big rallies there is clunking noise that comes from the wheels as the driver is moving the rig around carefully, applying and releasing the brakes.

Brakes popping and shackles will make some noise as you back and are making it move sides to side or in a bind. This is very common.

I agree it's very common when backing. I've heard it on a lot of different rigs.

Yes all those thumping, clanking, popping, squealing noises are common RV type sounds.

Randall, the noise may be normal, you be the judge, we don't know how loud or kind of noise you are exactly talking about. I would hate to be pulling my 5th wheel with brake or suspension problems. I would have an expert make the final determination.

Those noises are normal when backing a trailer but NOT when going forward. Just in case.

Especially if making a sharp turn while backing.
