What to do
I am considering buying a Banks Speed Brake for my 2500 LLY Duramax. I can't seem to find much on MOC regarding this unit. Please give me your comments

Haven't had it, but been thinking about it a lot lately. I'll watch this thread for feedback.

Have a look at the PacBrake PRXB. Have had mine for 5 years and has worked flawlessly. It is air operated thus giving you air for other uses.

My BIL put the PAC Brake on his and likes it. Living in the mountains of Colorado, it was a great addition.

You know Guys, you could spring for a 2011 or newer GM and have the Factory installed Exhaust Brake. That would make that after market install look cheap, but no where near as much fun.

You could try a custom programmed ECM. The two towing modes on my ECM use the variable vane turbo to act as an exhaust brake. This is the same way GM does it on their newer trucks. It has worked perfectly for me. You can find out more about this at www.duramaxtuner.com

Thanx woodtic ,Sounds like a good alternative, I was looking into a tuner anyway, my stock LB7 is Barely powerful enough for towing this 39 footer plus 2 scooters

I have one on our truck and love it. Just be aware though, Chevy voided my warranty a couple of years after I installed it when I took it in for some work. Apparently they are starting to take a tougher stance than they used too.

I don't think the LB7 has a variable vane turbo. I think you need to install a physical exhaust brake on your truck. Sorry.

Looks like Bigskyjimmy is going to have to spring for a new TV! My warranty is way past so I am not worried about warranty. So far it looks like The Banks speed brake is the best choice for me. $600 is alot cheaper than putting hydraulic brakes on the Monty.

I was looking for exhaust brakes back when I had my 07 Ram. I never heard nothing about Banks other then the cost. I was going to get the Pac Brake though. But instead the exhaust brake I got had a new truck around it...lol lol
