ants in the awning

So today, when on the ladder cleaning, I notice a line of ants marching up the edge of the awning...bummer. Looking for the start of the line, I fing they are coming from the underside of the awning and on top of the awning tube. Seems that little space between the fabric and the aluminum tube makes a great home. So, for those of you not in the frozen parts of the country....put this on your list of things to check...and keep that bug spray handy. John

Slide toppers were free of any ants...it was the main awning. But I have to say that the top of the slides were fairly clean since it has been 2 years since I last cleaned top of slides. I have my main awning anchored down by two racheting straps with pad eyes bolted into the concrete patio. I am now going to spray the bottom of those straps with ant spray. John

Ants get into everything. I have even had them in my rubber corner protectors I put on my slide corners, I've also had the dreaded ghost ants, crazy ants, too many to list, WOW. when we moved here my coworkers told me that everything in Florida will try to kill you including the trees. AKA. coconut LOL.

On our site, fire ants try hard to suck me into standing on their piles of debris...but I am wise to them. The water mocs I know not to even tread anywhere near them. The alligators could care less, at least so far. Now...a lot of the drivers I see doing really weird s..., they could be the real danger in florida. John

I know the fire ants are a real problem. You will be standing on a mound and not even know it, then hundreds will come out of the nest and climb on you then they send out a signal and all of them will sting at once and man then you will know what real pain is. so watch out where you stand when you are in the grass and make sure you look out for your animal as well.
