landing gear slow

My landing gear seem to be getting slow when raising the rig. I don't know if it could just need lubing or the motor is getting weak. It goes pretty fast for the first couple of inches but then slows down when I have to raise it up 6 inches or so to level it on a hill.

I have pulled the rig for 8 years and probably around 40 stops each year when I had to raise it up. Would that wear out the motor?

My first guess is it is time to clean and grease the Jack Screw. It sounds like the top part of it is gunked up. I don't know if your year/model came with a lube point or not. If it didn't, I have heard of members pouring a little 90 weight gear lube down the top of the leg in an attempt to lubricate the Jack Screw without having to remove and dissemble it. Not too much gear lube as it can make a mess when it leaks out the bottom.

Here are the instructions for removing a leg provided by Venture Manufacturing. They supplied landing legs for many years. It should be similar for whatever brand landing leg you have.

Then if you want to disassemble the leg, use these directions.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will try to lube them next spring (or whenever I take it to the dealer for repairs).

I had a similar problem with our 2010. One of the legs was bent and would drag when raising or lowering.
