What’s it for

We have a 2021 Montana 3761fl 41’ long. In our information panel with the awning and slide out controls and the sensor buttons for the black and gray tanks and all that at the very top is a button with a green light that is marked “remote switch “, what the heck is it? Btw I’ve looked in the book and can’t find it. Thanks in advance for y’all’s help.

inverter switch

If you have a inverter it is most likely the inverter on off switch

it is an inverter remote switch to start and shut down the inverter, it powers the residential fridge and 5 receptacles on battery power. the receptacles will have yellow stickers telling you which are on the inverter as well. Be aware many of us have issue with the GFCI tripping when we start the inverter. So, if you don't have power, you should check the GFCI reset button on the inverter. I have that issue with the same unit you have.
Hope this helps!
Todd

How do you know when the GFCI is tripped on the inverter? And is there a need to leave switch on while on shore power?

If the GFI trips you wont have power to the inverted outlets. I dont have a GFI on my Dimensions inverter but I have 2 GFI outlets in the RV. When they trip there is a flashing red light on them. Press the reset button to reset. If you have a GFI on you inverter it will be the same. As far as leaving the inverter on, it depends on how its wired and the inverter itself. On mine when I shut off the inverter it kills power to the inverted plugs weather I'm on shore power or not. I would assume it would be that same for yours. The inverter has a transfer relay built in or its connected to an external transfer switch. The switch determines what power source is it will pass based on priority. Just leave it on while on shore power or when you want the inverted power. Turn it off when in storage.

I leave mine on while on shore power so the inverter/batteries can take over and run the refrigerator in the event of power outage. My inverter is plugged into a transfer switch that favors shore power first. I have read the newer ones have a transfer switch built in, but I would think the concept would be the same.
