It would be handy if they would allow one more inch behind the L sofa and the rail so the sweeper would fit to vacuum the carpet

Hmmmm .. maybe the 2013 is slightly different than my 2011. The vac just fits behind our "L".

Either that or the sweeper attachment is different. Ours won't quite fit
