Weight being carried versus weight being towed

This may be a dumb question ... but if my fifth wheel weighs 14,000 lbs with a hitch weight of 2,000 lbs, when it is hooked to my pick-up am I

(1)carrying 2,000 lbs and towing 14,000 lbs? OR

(2)carrying 2,000 lbs and towing 12,000 lbs? OR

(3)some other combination?

Thanks,

Bill
