Telephone Outlet

Hey Guys:

We have a 2013 Montana 3800RE. Can not locate a telephone inlet outside nor one inside. Is the unit not set up for a
telephone. Our previous trailer, a Carriage Cameo LXi had one.
We are full timers and have a land line when in Arizona.I gues
we will just have to enter beside the livingroom slide out.

With the demise of the land line, I doubt they will install them in new trailers. There might be one in there but I would not be surprised if they cut it out of production.

If it is there it is likely in the convenience center where all the water and things hook up, that is where ours is on our 2012.

Sorry but I still want a land line, costs way to much for us Canucks to use cell down in the US.

Congrats on the new unit, happy trails.

What year was your Cameo?

With the demise of land lines, they'll remove that production cost and leave it to the new owner to go down to the local hardware store and purchase their own connections for this if they still want one in their particular rig or you might be able to talk your dealer into installing one for you (but for a large fee). It would require drilling a hole somewhere on an exterior wall and installing the adapters and covers (make sure the exterior part of this is weatherproof. Keep in mind this does not give you a land line, it just allows you to connect to an external and enabled phone jack outside the trailer and connect an older style phone device to it with the proper wires.

In my case, I converted my RJ-11 connection into an external RG6 coax to use a television outdoors. For phone service we use either cell phones or the Magic Jack connected to a laptop and with a 4G Hotspot for Internet access of this phone. This also allows us to have a fax printer, too.

Either your's was ordered special or they make them different in Canada, ours is a 2010 with no outlet inside or outside anywhere.

There probably isn't a phone connection on your trailer however installing one in the convenience center is simple. You'll also have to install a connection inside the unit and then connect the two terminals. NOT a hard job at all. I recently did both so that we could have DSL for our computer and the installation was not a problem at all. There'll be access to the area behind the convenience center and from there you'll be able to determine the best and easiest location for the terminal inside the trailer.

If you're going to be in the Yuma area, I'd be happy to help you with the install.

No Dick they don't make them different for the Canadian market, I apologize the phone jack was in my SOB 2010. Like it's American cousins mine has no phone jack. I used Magic Jack on our only trip to the US with the new unit.
If I were going to be in the US for extended periods of time, the convenience center is where I would put it as it would be protected from the elements in this compartment.
Another project for another day.

We have one in our 2008 but don't use it we have a TracFone and use a Virgin Mobile hot spot for internet. Both work well.

Lowes sell a connection that is very similar to the existing terminals in the convenience center and when installed, looks right at home there. There's no need for a weatherproof outdoor fitting.
