AC Weather Cover

I am having issues finding a vinyl weather cover for my AC unit. Having trouble finding one with the proper dimensions. The RV supply companies are not much help. The AC unit is a Dometic Blizzard NXT. Model is a H551916AXX1J0. Dimensions are 40D x 30W x 13.7H inches. Has anyone purchased a cover for this AC unit in the past? If so would like to get the details.

Ultrakodiak - you must be a young agile man. The thought of climbing on the roof to put a vinyl cover on the AC shroud and take them off does not appeal me. I did a quick search of the forum looking for other threads on the topic and did not find anything during my 30 second search.

Back in the 90s when I had several Coleman pop-ups - the ABS plastic shrouds were (I guess) thin plastic and they would break at the 4 holder-screws and blow off during transit very easily. Then I found this thing called "the internet" with a news-group/forum for pop-up owners and discovered lots of folks had the same problem. A friend of mine in Dallas actually designed and marketed a painted flat bar to place across the covers to keep the covers on tightly. In contrast - the covers they put on our rigs today seem to be thicker and a better grade plastic than 25 years ago. My black covers have not suffered any sun damage or aging from the Texas sun...no covers needed (thankfully!). Also - I have a feeling my pet wasps and yellow jackets would still find a way to build a nest under the AC cover. They would not appreciate me disturbing their habitat when I remove a vinyl cover.

Ultrakodiak ... like you I'd guess, climbing up on any RV roof is no more daunting than climbing in my pickup bed ... agility may wain, but I have some years left. Try this link, I've used ADCO for A/C and tire covers.

I don’t plan on leaving the cover on full time. Just when it rains, as I have a leak coming either through the ac unit or around the roof seal. It leaks through the ceiling and onto the floor of the RV. I covered the AC unit last time with a tarp and had no leaking issues, but the tarp covered the entire unit and overlapped the roof seal. If I get the proper cover and install it I should be able to determine whether the leak is coming thorough the roof seal or from the inside of the ac unit. No one seams to be able to help, so I’m trying to determine this on my own.

I have not experienced a leak around the rooftop ACs - but here are some videos showing the process...
In the second video - the guy turns his AC on its side on the roof to clean off the old gasket, and then he posts a note "to let the AC sit level for 24 hrs after installation to let the oil settle back into the compressor". This is a hard lesson I learned years ago - but with a refrigerator. Costly mistake.

I could not find a video that illustrates removing a ducted AC like our Montanas have. Maybe someone else can describe that process for you. Maybe it is the same as in these videos.

If it were me I would take the unit off and find the problem and fix it. On some units the factory didn't plug all the mounting holes, some the seal may have an issue and on others the drain may be clogged. Whatever it is it shouldn't leak and fixing the problem is always best.

You must make sure you don’t over tighten the air down that will make the rubber casket leak
